Jumpsquare Group moves safely
With over 30 indoor trampoline parks, the Jumpsquare Group is the largest and fastest growing European chain of indoor trampoline parks. Jumping is a fairly new sport that came over from the US and is very popular among young people. As with other sports, there is a chance of injury. To minimise this risk, but also to keep jumping fun and enjoyable for everyone, Flash Private Mobile Networks provides a smooth functioning communication system that always works. Tjalle van Diffelen, team operations and responsible for facility services, new-builds, extensions and openings of new parks of the Jumpsquare Group, explains how they guarantee safety on busy days with peak times of 250 jumpers per hour.
Jumpsquare Group is the largest and fastest growing European chain of indoor Trampoline parks. You can find the parks under the Jumpsquare and Jump XL formulas in as many as four European countries: The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany. The aim is to increase the market in Germany in the coming years. The mission is to get young people and adults moving with attractive indoor trampoline fun parks where people come together, exercise and relax in a pleasant and safe environment. The parks are partly operated in-house and partly through franchise partners. Tjalle explains: “On average, 20 people work at each park and there are currently 35 trampoline parks, so in total, 700 people are employed, including many part-timers. The trampoline park in Arnhem has the largest capacity and at peak hours you can expect 156 children on the trampolines, 75 parents watching, plus the number of employees. Add to that the fact that the music is always loud and the bars and restaurants are in full swing; it’s easy to imagine the need to keep a good overview and to stay in contact with each other. That’s why the two-way radio is our most important instrument, our lifeline that we trust blindly. The main reason we work with two-way radios is absolute safety.
In practice, the operational side is extensive. Tjalle explains: “Of course, we work with peak hours and it’s essential that we communicate well together during those hours. What this means in practice is that the front desk employees announce new groups, that we are notified if there are any injuries or if we need to intervene. But we also pass on simple practical messages between ourselves or to the reception and catering staff. We work with an internally closed system and an average of 10 two-way radios per trampoline park location. Thankfully, there are not that many injuries, but if there are, it’s a good thing we can communicate quickly by two-way radio; short lines of communication and clear messages that always reach their destination and are easy to understand.”

Parents are always looking for fun new activities for their children; their children’s joy comes first. The Jumpsquare Group has set up the beautiful parks with a spacious and modern layout, and excellent catering facilities. It’s a cool experience for a day trip or a kids’ party. Inside large, high buildings with loud music, the art of clear communication is particularly important. Tjalle explains: “We work with the Hytera two-way radio PD 365 and a DMR network, which works perfectly. It’s impossible to call someone with all the loud music and shouting. That’s why our internal communication is only done by two-way radio. It’s an open hall and because the DMR network works quite well, we don’t need any additional support transmitters. With the full service rental concept, we have ready-to-use two-way radios in all branches because Flash sets them up perfectly in advance and delivers them fully operational. We purchase the matching accessories, like microphones, earphones plus connecting wire and belt clip ourselves. But for the chargers we have rental contracts.”
Worry-free is key
Three years ago, Tjalle met with Flash account manager Franklin Brandse. “To put it bluntly, I don’t have time to arrange everything in terms of communication for each branch, it takes up too much time. I was looking for a partner who would take care of everything for me, provide the best equipment and always be there for us, whom I could rely on. Franklin understood the situation and gave me good advice. We have a fixed rental price and a full-service contract that includes all maintenance. All we have to do is call and they are ready for us. They deliver the two-way radios fully installed and ready for immediate use by everyone. Where necessary, they provide support and training to new users. I have to say that young employees these days are so clever with their own smart phones that they can figure out how to use a two-way radio in no time at all. And even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Flash always comes up with solutions for us and we are very grateful for that. Flash truly feels like a good partner. We can’t wait to open again and roll out our plans in Germany. Flash also helps us with training materials in other countries, so we are well taken care of. Our service contract is all about worry-free solutions – I wish all our partners would work like that!
