Safety comes first for UZ Leuven 

UZ Leuven is an autonomous healthcare organisation within the Catholic University of Leuven. It has various campuses that provide high-level specialised medical care at the human, scientific and technological levels. UZ Leuven wants to maintain its leading position in the applied clinical development field and therefore continuously works to achieve better and innovative patient care. 

To guarantee the safety of patients, staff and visitors, UZ Leuven uses the services of its own security company, which is on call 24/7. UZ Leuven was looking for a new communication system that would guarantee flawless communication between the security officers. It opted for the NEXEDGE system with a repeater, which covers the entire hospital complex.  

Everyone within reach at the push of a button 

“We highly value the safety of our patients, employees and visitors. To manage hospital crime, our internal security officers use two-way radios from Flash,” explains Marc Deneyer, who is responsible for the internal security service.  

Deneyer: “We work closely with our internal prevention service, which is the first to respond in an emergency. If an emergency occurs, we want to evacuate everyone and bring them to safety as soon as possible. At such a time, it is critical that we can give the proper instructions at the push of a button to the entire team. To coordinate this, we have a ‘coordination and command structure’. All involved must be able to communicate in order to be able to closely follow the situation and quickly give the correct orders. Here, too, the two-way radios prove their worth.”
