Field Strength Measurement
Good network coverage is essential for stable and reliable wireless voice or data connections. To determine which equipment is needed at your location, a field strength measurement is a must.
A field strength measurement clarifies what is needed at your location to meet your desired network coverage and availability. including areas that are difficult to reach, such as cellars or tunnels, full coverage on complex factory sites or coverage in rural transitional or border areas.
The field strength measurement takes place at your site. Afterwards, we provide feedback on the results in a clear report. It shows where reception is poor or where no reception is possible without additional measures. This is followed by a recommendation: what is needed to achieve the desired coverage and availability? This may entail moving set-up points, adding antenna systems or increasing the number of transmitters. Either way, we ensure that coverage is optimal; we guarantee up to 99% availability.
We prefer to carry out the field strength measurement in the preliminary phase, because the measurement provides important information for the technical design of the communication solution. However, if several parties are invited to tender, the measurement can often only be carried out after the contract has been awarded. In that case, the design – and consequently the quotation – may be subject to modification.
Based on the field strength measurement on-site, the capacity calculation and the availability analysis, we will determine the final set-up points and required (twice executed) components of the network.
Components of this service
For the start of a field strength measurement, we draw up a measurement plan. This states exactly at which location measurements are made. To the last detail: we describe the address as well as the rooms and floors. This way you will know exactly what the working area will be. If this is not to your liking, we can make timely adjustments based on the plan. The measurement plan also shows how we perform the measurement and which measuring instruments or test equipment we use.
The implementation of the measurement plan results in a report. In the measurement report we repeat the starting points and indicate when, by whom and under what circumstances the implementation took place. We also incorporate the measurement results and the conclusion in the report. Ultimately, on the basis of the measurement report, we recommend which measures we would take to implement a communication system with optimal radio coverage and availability in your working area.
