Capacity Calculation
In order to set up your communication solution properly, it is important to know the capacity needed for voice and data transfer. With our capacity calculation, we map the number of users, the user groups and the required bandwidth.
Components of this service
The number of users is always the starting point for the capacity calculation. How many people or machines will communicate with each other? Will they do so simultaneously? The geographical working area also plays an important role: are the users located close to each other or, for example, are they spread out across the Netherlands?
Especially in voice networks, we use user or call groups. The number of users in a group and the number of groups – together with the average call time and the number of calls – directly affects the required capacity. This is also called the Erlang calculation.
Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted simultaneously over a particular connection. The higher the bandwidth of a connection, the faster your data can be sent and received. The main question here is: how much data should be exchanged and at what speed?
