In the spotlight: Mandy Humphreys

A new month, a new Employee in the Spotlight at Flash! Through this regular column, we introduce you to the faces behind the organization. Find out all about our professionals, their daily work as well as the variety of positions within Flash. Today the honor is Mandy Humphreys!

Mandy, what is your position within Flash?

I work as a receptionist, operator and hostess in Flash’s office. I connect all incoming phone calls to the appropriate colleague or department, I receive visitors at the front desk and make sure they get to the right destination. Every day I take care of lunch for all employees and if there are coffee rounds or lunches planned with external parties, I plan those as well. In addition, I support our Customer Service with administrative tasks and am a member of our FAFS team.

How long have you been doing this work?

I started almost two years ago, but it feels like much longer. The first impression was very warm. Flash is a company with nice colleagues and because of my position, I quickly got to know everyone. I come from a retail background and didn’t have much experience with computer programs. I am happy with the opportunity I got here. Flash feels like family, we really do it together.

What does your workday look like?

My work day starts at 8:15am and from 8:30am I am definitely ready to answer the phone. Together with the Customer Service Team, we take all incoming calls. This way, callers are not on hold. Every day I make sure that lunch is ready for my colleagues at 12:00 and I also take care of all extra lunches or coffee rounds. On the contrary, I find it a sport to be able to do everything myself. If necessary, there are colleagues who help me.

What do you like most about your job?

Being a hostess! I love giving someone a warm welcome: welcoming visitors, the short conversations while I lead them to their destination and providing coffee and lunches. No day is the same, thankfully because I really like the dynamics and hectic pace. Even though there is a lot of planning, I also have to be flexible in shifting gears and I thrive on that. The hours fly by in a day.

How do you feel about Flash as an employer?

I haven’t seen any company where everything is so well organized. Everything they do is done to perfection and they really listen to you. Whether you have work aspirations or are just looking for a solution privately. They think with you and are attentive. Of course, we are also equipped internally with smart high-tech communication solutions. For example, my job is to inform the people inside the office building in case of emergencies and all in-house emergency response colleagues are equipped with a walkie-talkie. We also use the Flash SmartCom solution ourselves, of course.

What are you proud of?

I am proud of my workplace at Flash. I enjoy my job and can do what I like here. I am very driven, like variety and can plan well. I appreciate that in a job.
