In the spotlight: Cindy Nieboer

A new Employee in the Spotlight at Flash! Through this regular column, we introduce you to the faces behind the organization. Find out all about our professionals, their daily work as well as the variety of positions within Flash. Today the honor is Cindy Nieboer!

Cindy, what is your position within Flash?

I work as a Sales Support Contract Management employee; our department falls under the Customer Service Center. We check all the contracts we make with customers and put them into our system. This allows us to secure our Service Level Agreements (SLA) and share information internally. We review both new and existing contracts and if we see possibilities for improvement or opportunities, we report them to our sales colleagues. At Flash, we deliver customization to our customers and I want to deliver that to colleagues as well.

How long have you been doing this work?

I recently celebrated my 10-year work anniversary here. I once started as an inside sales representative in the Customer Service Centre department and I enjoyed doing that. After a few years, I was asked to be a supervisor for this department. When I became a mother, I started working again as a Sales Assistant but this time part-time.

At some point I indicated that I wanted to do more with contracts, because there were opportunities there for our customers and colleagues. Some time later I was asked to set up the new Contract Management Department. An opportunity I seized with both hands, because I could sink my teeth into this. There was no fixed set of tasks yet and I was able to shape the department together with my Manager. We determined what was needed and where we could add value. We are really part of the sales body and the work requires a lot of depth. I love that, by the way, because I want to deliver quality and then you have to keep up to date with both our product portfolio to developments in the market and laws and regulations.

What does your workday look like?

Together with my colleague, we answer questions from customers and colleagues every day. This industry is dynamic and I like to know all the ins and outs, so I can drop in on a colleague if I need to. Colleagues are easy to reach, helpful and often as passionate about the work as I am. We can also regularly join a training course to keep up to date with developments. We are a relatively young department within Flash, so we are constantly working on how to optimize processes. Our department has a lot of overlap with other departments, so step by step we work towards the next improvement. There is always room for improvement in terms of efficiency or quality. I don’t like sitting still, there is always something to do and by the way, I am too driven for that.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I have freedom in my job to perform work in the way I think adds the most value. That trust is very pleasant. What I get a lot of energy from is seeing opportunities for improvements in daily operations. For example, we will soon be working with a report that will make work easier for several departments. That will save time, which we can spend on contacting our customers. Because we also take on an advisory role in this report, we really create added value for our colleagues and thus indirectly for our customers.

What do you think of Flash as an employer?

Flash delivers quality to its customers and to its employees. Yes, we work hard and this is regularly amply rewarded. Appreciation for you is expressed and tangible. In addition to excellent working conditions, excellent activities, gifts and company outings are bonuses. Flash is a considerate employer, it is not for nothing that I have enjoyed working here for ten years.

What are you the most proud of?

I am proud of the trust I have received, but most of all I am proud when I hear back from colleagues that they are happy with what we are doing in this new department. That confirms to me that I am in the right place and that I am moving in the right direction together with my colleague.
Flash is open to employees and their ambitions, and if they are in line with the vision, you get the chance to realize those ambitions. That way you can move on or take a side step, depending on your needs.
